Dr Shiro Ram completed her degree at the Fiji School of Medicine and worked in the Obstetric and Gynaecology department for 6 years. In 1994 she completed the Australian Medical Board exams and a Diploma in Obstetrics. While in Australia Dr Ram has worked at the Mater Public Hospital Obstetric department and has also worked in a number of group medical practices. She is the founder of Coonan Street General Practice which opened in 2005.
Dr Ram’s special areas of interest are in Women’s health, Paediatrics, Antenatal Share Care, Menopause, Hormone Implants, Implanon Insertion & Removal, Mirena Insertions, Contraception Advice and other female issues.
In addition she holds interest also in Chronic Disease Management, Mental Health Plan and Counselling for depression.
Dr Ram is supported by Practice Manager Anne and Receptionists Monique and Aadarsh.
Health promotion is an important focus of care at Coonan Street. We have reminder systems in place for Immunisations, Pap Smears/ Womens' Health and General Health Checks such as Diabetes and Asthma.
This practice provides continuous care in many aspects of medicine. Appointments are required for all referrals and prescriptions whether new or repeat.
In the case of after hours appointment our practice utilises National Home Doctor Services (phone: 13 74 25). If you are phoning the surgery after hours our phone system will direct you to National Home Doctor Service.
